Huarpe Riglos Family Wines

About us

We are a family-owned company, founded through the union of two families: Werthein and Hernandez Toso, both with extensive experience and tradition in winemaking.

Our approach combines passion, tradition, quality, and art, with wines crafted in two iconic regions of Argentine viticulture: Finca Las Catalinas in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, and Finca Las Divas in Gualtallary, Tupungato.

Our vision is to become a global reference for Argentine wine, producing high-quality, excellent wines with a strong commitment to sustainability.

CHIEF WINEMAKER

JOSÉ HERNÁNDEZ TOSO

WE ARE PROUD THAT JOSÉ HERNÁNDEZ TOSO IS OUR WINEMAKING DIRECTOR. JOSÉ COMES FROM A FAMILY WITH A LONG-STANDING HISTORY IN VITICULTURE: HIS GREAT GRANDFATHER, PASCUAL TOSO, WAS ONE OF THE ITALIAN IMMIGRANT PIONEERS WHO FOUNDED THE ARGENTINE WINE INDUSTRY.

He was recently awarded the “Argentine winemaker of the year 2004” honor by his industry collegues.

He has previously worked as a winemaker in leading European wineries during six years. He was chief winemeker at J. Hofstaetter Winery in Alto Adige, Italy; winemaker at the Graf Adelmann Winery in Baden-Württemberg, Germany; and research associate at the Weinsberg Wine Institute, Germany.

José received degrees in Viticulture and Oenology from the Heilbronn Institute, Germany and attendeed graduate programs in winemeking at the Weinsberg Wine Institute, Germany and the Scuola del Vino in Italy.

We conducted his first vintage at the age of seventeen in the old family wine business, the Toso Winery.

PORTFOLIO

RIGLOS

We create unforgettable wines at Finca Las Divas, a unique vineyard in Gualtallary, Tupungato, situated 1,350 meters above sea level in the Uco Valley. Its limestone-rich soils give rise to intense wines, full of character and remarkable aging potential.

Our portfolio features vibrant and refined expressions of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc.

HUARPE

In tribute to the indigenous people of Mendoza, who designed an irrigation system that transformed the desert landscape into an ideal oasis for winemaking.

Our portfolio includes, on one hand, a line of blends from different regions of Mendoza, the Huarpe series, and on the other, Taymente, a line of eight varietals that explore the unique character of each grape.

BERLIN WALL, ART & WINE

Our winery permanently displays part of the Pampa Collection, a journey through Argentine modern and contemporary art.

The collection began 25 years ago with the goal of bringing together works that reflect the country’s cultural identity, and it continues to grow today. It spans from the avant-garde of Pettoruti and Xul Solar to contemporary expressions by Matías Duville and emerging artists such as Valentín Demarco and Nina Kovensky.

Also on display is the only original piece of the Berlin Wall in Mendoza, reinterpreted by Mendoza artists Vivian Levinson and Egar Murillo. This reimagined work invites reflection on history and the values that unite us. A wall that once divided the world now connects us through art, memory, and resilience. That same spirit defines our winery: honoring history, opening ourselves to the world, and letting creativity flow—just like a fine wine.
